SAT Information

Are you a SENIOR who will be taking the SAT on November 6, December 4 or January 22?
Millbrook High School is offering a 4 week review session before each of these dates
. The cost is $20 (includes book). All sessions are from 6PM to 9PM. Seniors can register in Student Services II. Seats are limited, so sign up early!

The class of 2006 will be the first to take the new SAT in spring 2005. Some of the changes to the SAT include:

  • A student-written essay
  • Analogies eliminated
  • Shorter reading passages added
  • New content from third-year college preparatory math
  • Quantitative Comparisons eliminated

The Elks Foundation is offering scholarships to gold award recipients. Please visit www.girlscouts.org for more information.

The Ron Brown Scholars program is offering 4-year scholarships totaling $40,000.00 to high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Interested applicants must U.S citizens or permanent residents, and African-African. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service and demonstrate financial need. For an application stop by students services II. Please visit www.ronbrown.org to get more details. The deadline to submit an application is November 15, 2004 for consideration of additional scholarship providers. The final deadline is January 9, 2005.

Johnson & Wales University is promoting their Eighth Annual National Outstanding Student Leader of the Year Scholarship Competition. The grand prizewinner will receive a full tuition renewable scholarship for up to four years. Runners-up will receive scholarships ranging from $3,500 to 7,500, renewable for up to four years of full-time. The deadline to submit a completed application is December 10, 2004. (Postmarked) Stop by Student Services II and pick up additional information and an entry form.

Susan Ellis Roberts Scholarship is offering a high school senior a one time award of at least $5,000. The applicant must be planning to enroll at any two or four-year post secondary educational program, maintain a good academic standing, have a financial need, and demonstrated a creative gift or special talent in visual or performing arts, leadership. teaching, entrepreneurship or other areas of talent. The deadline to submit a completed application, including 3 letters of reference to Ms. Manning is December 20,2004.

Davidson College is offering the John Montgomery Belk Scholarship to high school seniors who have demonstrated intellectual and personal success and significant leadership in their high school. The scholarship is annually renewable valued at $34,903. In addition, each scholar receives two-summer stipend to pursue further enrichment opportunities (up to $3,000). Interested students must complete an application by January 2, 2005 to be considered. Visit www.davidson.edu to apply on-line or download an application.

The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America NC is sponsoring the Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship to high school seniors. First place will be awarded $3000 and two runners up will be awarded $1,000 each. Stop by Student Services II and pick an application. The deadline to submit completed applications to Ms. Manning is January 5, 2005 at 3:00pm in Student Services II. No exceptions.
