NEWS

The DECA students represented Millbrook very well at the 2006 North Carolina DECA Career Development Conference in Greensboro last week. All of the students exceeded proficiency in their respective events. In addition, we had two students, Samantha Molloy and Mark Skvara, who were top finalists in their events. Finally, Samantha Molloy was the 4 th place overall winner in her event and has qualified to attend the International Conference in Dallas , Texas ! The conference had over 2,000 students competing and to see Millbrook students on stage winning top honors was awesome! I am very proud of their success at their first state competition.

What is DECA? DECA is an association of Marketing students. It is a state and national organization available to all students who are currently enrolled in Marketing Education courses.

Who can join DECA?
Only students who are enrolled in Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Marketing, or Small Business during the 2005-2006 school year may join DECA. Students who have previously taken these courses may join with the permission of the advisor. The reason is because students gain knowledge and understanding of DECA in the classroom.
When does DECA meet?
Millbrook’s DECA chapter meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Additional meetings during the month are necessary to prepare for competitions. DECA meets at 2:30 in Room 802-6.

How much does it cost to join DECA?
DECA´s dues are $20 for the year. This pays for district, state and national registration.

When can I join DECA?
Millbrook’s DECA chapter is currently recruiting students to join. Students must join by October 31st if they wish to attend district competition.
