Shadow |
Job Shadowing gives students the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the education and training required for various careers. It gives them exposure to the real world, and demonstrates the relevance of coursework in the classroom. Through this experience, students learn about the skills needed to succeed in a career that they may decide to pursue. Students leave high school better prepared for postsecondary education and the workforce.
If you would like to have the opportunity to shadow an individual in a career of your choice, please contact Linda Quarles in the Career Development Center, Room 1705. You may also email Mrs. Quarles at tquarles@wcpss.net

|
Job shadowing allows students to shadow an individual(s) during a work day, for a half or full day, to gain exposure about a career of choice. This activity provides a connection between the classroom and the workplace. |

Millbrook High School’s Business Alliance sponsors an annual Career Fair in the spring of each school year. Last year’s fair was held on March 11th. Forty-five businesses participated, and approximately 1,500 students were in attendance.
The 9th annual Xtreme Beginnings Career Fair was held April 17th for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students at NCSU's McKimmon Center. Students had the opportunity to meet with many business and higher education representatives. They participated in round-table discussions and mock interviews. The fair presents a great opportunity for students to gain exposure to an array of educational and career opportunities. |
