Feb. 18

The 2013-2014 Millbrook Wildcats wrestling team is nearly finished with another successful season of wrestling!  With the loss of five seniors from last year’s varsity lineup, the team’s depth was challenged going into the 2013 season.  Challenge accepted!

Led by a lineup including nine seniors, the 2013-2014 Wildcats boasted a 20-6 overall record including a 6-1 record in the Cap-VIII Conference.  Millbrook finished second in the Cap-VIII regular season standings.  The conference tournament was cancelled this year due to inclement weather.

The team will now look forward to the postseason tournaments on the regional and state levels.  The regional tournament will take place in Benson and the state tournament will be hosted in Greensboro.

Next season will be a challenge for the Wildcats due to the departure of nine seniors from the varsity lineup.  A strong class of sophomore and junior wrestlers will gain another year of experience and lead the team back to success for the 2014-2015 season.  The team will look to improve throughout the spring and summer months with wrestling camps and off-season tournaments.

Highlights from this year’s season include:

    • CAP-VIII Regular Season 2nd Place
    • 2nd Place Finish at Eagle Invitational
    • 4th Place Finish at Sonny Inskip Tournament
    • Individual record highlights (Varsity):
      • Crayton Saby (106 lbs), 46-7
      • Nick Norton (120 lbs), 20-10
      • Daniel Powell (138 lbs), 31-17
      • Alexander Janni (145 lbs), 29-16
      • Peter Neuenschwander (152 lbs), 31-11
      • Jonathan Woodbury (170 lbs), 35-13
      • Dillon Dawkins (182 lbs), 35-5
      • Aaron Rehberg (195 lbs), 15-10
      • Vincent Ngwu (220 lbs), 17-5
