To be eligible for tryouts, practice, or participation in interscholastic
athletic contests, a player must meet all North Carolina High School
Athletic Association (NCHSAA) and Wake County Public School System
(WCPSS) eligibility requirements and policies:
- Must not participate
if he/she becomes 19 years of age on or before October 16th of
current school year.
- Must follow NCHSAA rules which have a 85% attendance
requirement (approximately 13.5 days) for the previous semester
and includes all absences.
- WCPSS requires the athlete to be present the entire
day in order to participate in activities or practices.
- Must meet promotion requirements at their school to
be eligible for the fall semester.
- Must earn passing grades in three
subjects for block schedule schools during each semester in order
to be eligible for
participation
during the succeeding semester.
- WCPSS also requires a cumulative overall grade point
average of 1.5 or above.
- Must participate
at the school to which he or she is assigned and must live with
the parents or legal guardian.
- Must be a properly enrolled student in a member school
of the WCPSS district, must be enrolled no later than the 15th
day of the present semester, and must be in regular attendance
at that school.
- Must receive a medical
examination once every 365 days by a duly licensed physician,
nurse practitioner, or physician’s
assistant.
- Must be released by a licensed physician if absent from
athletic practice for five or more days due to illness or injury.
- May not participate in practice or play if assigned
to In-School Suspension (ISS) or Out-of-school Suspension (OSS).
- May not participate at a second school in WCPSS in the
same sport season.

Tryouts for the 2010 Women's soccer teams will be held on Monday February 15 at 3pm-5m and Tuesday February 16 3pm-4pm on the practice soccer field. All participants must have a valid Wake County Public Schools High School Physical Form on file with Millbrook High in order to particpate. See Coach Edwards (802-11) or Coach James (200 building) with questions. |

WRESTLING NEWS - The new year began with the the matmen hitting the mats Saturday at the Sonny Inskip Tournament ( Northern Durham ). The team earned 4th place honors out of 16 competing teams. Champions Keegan Sykes, (1st place 112 Lbs) and Jacob Farrell , (171 Lbs) paced the Wildcats. Place winners included; Matt Aronowitz , (2nd place 189 Lbs), Brett Burton (3rd place 103 Lbs) and Lewis Crumsey (3rd place 215 Lbs). Chris Williams (152 Lbs) and Jeremy Macon (160 Lbs) picked up their first career wins during the tournament. Millbrook wrestles at home Wednesday against Sanderson. They look to move to 3-0 in the Cap VII Conference. The match begins at 7 pm. |

Women's pre-season soccer workouts are back! We are training on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons on the practice soccer field behind the 100 building here at MHS. We meet at 3pm and all girls participating should have a current physical on file with MHS sports medicine prior to coming to workouts. Please see Coach Edwards in 802-11 or email: mpedwards@wcpss.net with any questions.
Women's Soccer Tryouts: Tuesday February 16 and Wednesday February 17 3pm-5pm on the practice soccer field. All girls trying out must have a current physical on file with MHS sports medicine prior to being allowed to practice. We will run two fitness tests during tryouts: 2 mile run and 4 x 400 sprints. Players should bring running shoes as well as cleats to tryouts.

Millbrook won the Super Large Devision at the NCSHAA State Championships. They also took home the top honor, the Carolina Cup, for earning the highest cumulative score in the whole competition among varsity teams. Their score was a 278.4. Both the JV and Varsity squads plan on competing at Wake County Competition and States later in the year.

WRESTLING - Last night Millbrook defeated Broughton 69-11 in their CapVII Conference opener. Keegan Sykes 112 Lbs, Brandon Harris 119 Lbs, Winston Norton 130 Lbs, Henry Zaremba 135 Lbs, Nick LaScala 140 Lbs, Dave Brumbaugh 152 Lbs,Matt Aronowitz 189 Lbs, Lewis Crumsey 215 Lbs and Caleb High 285 Lbs collected pins for the Wildcats. Brett Burton 103 Lbs and Jacob Farrell 171 Lbs won by forfeit. Will Burton 125 Lbs. had an impressive last second 6-4 decision. The wrestling team returns to the mats Saturday (12/12) at the Eagle Invitational in Goldsboro. |
