What a Year!  Amazing 2008

Every year I have a word that best describes the outgoing senior class.  Words used for other classes over the years have been academic, creative, and nice.  The only word I have to describe the Class of 2008 is AMAZING.  When I think back to the start of this school year where the students rushed to support our fall athletes, tailgating in our parking lot and filling our stadium to capacity and beyond set a great tone to the school year.  The enthusiasm around Homecoming and Spirit Walls was memorable as are the Outstanding Seniors and Winterfest.  The Rock will always remind us of '08 and their commitment and love for Millbrook.  Our seniors have led us into numerous athletic victories, and scholarships and service success, as well as recognition throughout the state.  Who knew we could raise nearly ten thousand dollars to fund research for Juvenile Diabetes or five thousand dollars for Leukemia research?  Congressman Brad Miller came to speak to us regarding the crises in Sudan and Darfur and the Band Together festival occurred to bring attention to invisible children.  These are just a few ways the Class of 2008 has shown their compassion and care for others beyond school walls.  They are truly an amazing group of students.

Another amazing group has been you, our parents.  Thanks goes out to Jody Gross, the president of our PTSA for the tireless ways she has made sure Millbrook High students and staff are supported.  The Character Education Breakfast and the Honor Roll recognitions are two recent examples of how our PTSA promotes good things at Millbrook.  We have several teachers retiring this year.  Joy Allen, Linda Blaine, Lynn Poole, Carolyn Hunter, Cindy Kisner, Danny Wilkins and Diana Turner have decided to move on to the next phase in their lives.  They have over 158 years of combined experience they take with them.  Their dedication and service to our students has been invaluable.  This group is also amazing.

To the seniors whose lyrics from your class song read:

"Although we've come to the end of
the road - I still can't let go.
It's unnatural, you belong to me,
I belong to you."

Yes Class of 2008 you will always belong to Millbrook High School, as I know Millbrook High School will belong to you.  It has been a fantastic four years.  As you leave this phase behind, you are well prepared to leave an even greater mark on the world you are about to enter.  Good luck, you will be missed, you are amazing.
